Can You Throw For Our Team?

Forty years ago, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first people to ever walk on the moon. It was an historic day in the life of every American. Similarly, FIRST has been changing the lives of teenagers the world over since 1989, giving them a place where they can put their knowledge of science and technology to great uses. Now the two worlds overlap, as FIRST and JamesMonroebotics prepare for a bit of LUNACY; To survive, JamesMonroebotics needs your help! Do you think you have what it takes to help us shoot for the stars?

CAN YOU THROW THESE BALLS AT A MOVING TARGET DURING A COMPETITION?

We meet M,W,F,Sat in the Woodshop. Stop by a meeting, and join the LUNACY!

The 2009 FRC Game: Lunacy

Our question for you: "On July 20, 1969, a major breakthrough in science and technology was made. 2009 marks the 40th anniversary of what famous event that attracted the largest worldwide audience on record and achieved a giant leap forward for the course of mankind?"
Scroll down for the answer.

Moon Landing

If you guessed: "The first human moon landing", you guessed correctly. On July 20, 1969, United States astronauts, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, Jr., set foot on the Lunar surface, marking the first time a human being ever set foot on a planetary body other than Earth. Upon this historic event, as Neil Armstrong climbed down the ladder of Apollo 11's Lunar lander, he made his famous quote, "One small step for man, One giant leap for mankind!" For more information on the first manned Moon landing, visit NASA's Apollo 40th Anniversary Site.

This year's FIRST Robotics Competition (see other pages of this website to find out more about FIRST) is designed to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first moon landing. The game is played on a slippery field to simulate the 1/6 gravity environment present on the surface of the moon. This puts an even more realistic aspect on the game this year.
